Having Fun

Looking for more ways to enjoy life with your dog? Or want to develop your skills to a higher level?

Agility 121s

These super fun and confidence building sessions teach you how to navigate your dog through a series of obstacles like tunnels, weave poles and A-frames. Great for their fitness and yours as well as hugely beneficial for their confidence and connection with you. Your dog will need a basic sit & wait as well as a recall before enrolling for Agility 121s. Dogs under 18 months will start with Hoopers.

My dog is bright and we are both keen to learn new skills! My dog is at least 18 months old and healthy enough for agility training according to my vet. Even if my dog is reactive or anxious of other dogs that’s fine in 121 training and may even help!

‘Mollie grew in confidence during our 121 sessions, and now happily runs up the A-frame without hesitating! ’

‘1-2-1 agility training with Emma has been such an important part of our rescue dogs start with us.’

Agility group classes

For those who’ve completed a minimum of six agility 121s group classes bring people and their dogs together! Everyone benefits from seeing each dog & person run the same course with at least four courses or challenges in each class.

I’ve completed some 121s with Emma or Mallory and I’ve been invited to join a group class. Anxious and reactive dogs are welcomed with open arms provided we can keep them feeling safe and comfortable with the space, crates and hides that we have. These can provide and ideal opportunity to have fun around other dogs.

Scentwork

Dog during a scentwork session
Scentwork is an amazing thing for your dog to learn and zooms in on your dog’s favourite thing, to use their nose! It has been known to calm nervous dogs, works as a distraction for more timid dogs and allows them to work their noses to the best of their ability, and perhaps help you along the way with things such as that pesky lost tv remote!

I’ve completed the Bronze course or equivalent and my dog is comfortable around our instructors. All breeds are welcomed over 6 months of age and anxious or dog reactive dogs are welcome to join our 121 sessions.

Treibball

The object of the game is to get the dog to nudge the ball with their nose back towards the goal. There’s a combination of 8 balls and a few styles of games to play. I always describe it as a cross between a game of snooker, where the balls are set up in a triangle, and the dog is the cue who goes to the tip to break and sheepherding techniques! Suitable for all breeds not just the typical herding breeds.

Workshops are open to all current members to practice or learn new skills around new dogs as well as for those who want to try out activities at Harmony for the first time.

‘A huge thank you to Mallory, a really fun and interesting hour, we both thoroughly enjoyed it.’

‘I would thoroughly recommend Emma, her knowledge and support is brilliant, she cares about the dogs she is working with and is always at the end of the phone, message or meeting as required.’

Silver Skills Course

We cover walking on a lead, recalling and stays as well as lots of other fun activities to help build your relationship with your dog. This course advances all the skills acquired from your Bronze or equivalent training as well as introducing more. The focus during the silver course is that your dog will work for a range of rewards, not just treats. In addition, we’ll work towards only using treats as a reward and not to lure our dogs into particular behaviours. Must have completed Bronze before enrolling.

I’ve completed my Bronze and I want to go further. I’d like to have more confidence with loose lead walking and recall around a wide range of distractions as well as develop our ‘team working’ skills in a range of introductory dog sport sessions and practical walk scenarios outside the paddock. I’d like my dog to be more confident with their skills at a higher level so that we can use fewer rewards. Some reactive or anxious dogs may be suitable after 121s and by referral only.

Private Training

If you want to work on specific skills or you simply want to advance through a silver level course at a rapid rate a block of private training would be ideal. These private 121 sessions are entirely focused on your needs and achieving your goals. We can cover walking on a loose lead, recall training, retrieving and some agility style confidence building too. But …. it’s up to you! These sessions are ideal if you are keen to progress and can be really helpful if your dog’s struggles to concentrate around other dogs too.

I want to work on some specific training issues and I want to pick the times that we work to suit my diary. My dog might be anxious or reactive of other dogs but comfortable in the outdoor training environment. Not suitable for dogs who are reactive or aggressive towards people. All adult dogs need to provide proof of current vaccination or titre testing.
